Twin Flames vs Soulmates: Key Differences You Need to Know

Twin Flames and Soulmates are NOT the same thing! I repeat, they are NOT the same!

If you read my introduction to twin flames, you might be wondering...well, that sounds an awful lot like a soulmate connection. And though there are some similarities, here are some ways they are different:

Another point to make is that a soulmate is just another soul that you have made a soul contract with (to teach you lessons in this lifetime). They can be parents, siblings, children, or friends. They can even be pets! They are sometimes romantic, but do not have to be. However, a twin flame dynamic is ALWAYS romantic/sexual.

As you can see from the infographic above, soulmates in a romantic relationship also exist to help the other person grow and learn life lessons, but they are not bound to each other in the same way as a twin flame connection. Once the lesson is complete, soulmates can, and often will, part, as they have completed their soul contract and are ready to move on to another leg of their spiritual journey.

How do you know if you've met a soulmate? Whereas meeting a twin flame or a karmic (a type of soulmate that brings harsher lessons that carry a heavier karmic weight) is often chaotic and fraught with emotional ups and downs, meeting a soulmate is often described as a deep feeling of familiarity or of being "at home." Soulmates "click" and have an easy rapport with one another, often vibing on an intuitive level. I have had a number of wonderful interactions with strangers in the last year where our souls recognized one another and even though our exchanges were brief, in some instances, we parted ways saying, "I see you. I recognize you as one of my soul tribe."

Soulmates and twin flames are both important parts of our soul's spiritual journey, so why is it important to know the difference? Well, if you are manifesting a romantic partner, you will want to make sure you are manifesting the RIGHT partner. Or, for example, if you are praying for your Twin Flame, but keep using the term soulmate, you will attract the soulmate...not the twin flame. Be clear about who you are manifesting, because if you use the wrong term when asking about a person, the Universe will answer what you ASK...even if it wasn't what you intended!
