The Twin Flame Journey: A Brief Introduction to Love, Healing, and Awakening

I first clued in to my own twin flame journey from the reels that kept popping up in my FB feed. I'm a hope(ful) romantic, but even I was skeptical about this concept when it first came through.

The simple explanation of a twin flame is that two souls are joined at the core and their soul mission is to unite in each and every lifetime. Swoony, right? Yeah...well, the reality is a lot more complicated.

The purpose of the twin flame journey is to activate a spiritual awakening within both people. This process involves deep spiritual and emotional healing that essentially raises the vibrations for the collective consciousness and promotes healing and ascension for all.

(Twin flames are NOT the same as soulmates, which I will cover in another post.)

This process is like spiritual boot camp. You literally have to actively work to heal your emotional wounds and manage your triggers so that you can even come into union with your twin flame. (And a lot of people who have a twin flame never do.)

The understanding is that twin flames are mirrors of the other. What one is feeling, the other experiences, and vice versa. When one heals, the other heals, too. Healthy twin flames who comes into union can experience a relationship that is the pinnacle of intimacy and ecstasy. Because your twin flame was made specifically for you.

One partner is the Divine Masculine, who represents the qualities of yang, and the other is the Divine Feminine, who represents the qualities of yin. (I think of the Divine Masculine as embodying the element of fire or air and the Divine Feminine as embodying the element of water or earth.)

In fact, for a union to be a true twin flame, the two partners have to have astrological sun signs that are their polar opposites. (Fire-Water; or Air-Earth)

This is so they can combine to form a whole. But each partner must become whole (healed enough in him/her/theirself), in order to come into union with their counterpart.

In essence, if we were to describe a twin flame union in mathematical terms it would look like this: 1 + 1 = 3.

That is because each person is complete (1), and the union creates a whole new field of healing and spiritual energy that radiates outward, into the consciousness, representing the unity of mind, body, and soul (3).
